After a week in Darwin we have realised why they call SA the granny state. You don't need to register boats up here, in fact you don't even need a licence to drive one. You can drink as much as you like whilst driving your unregistered boat without a licence as long as someone picks you up at the boat ramp to drive you home(friends took me out on a fishing trip).

We have had a great time here swimming in wave pools, rock pools, caravan park pools and taken cold showers in between. We visited significant sites from world war 2, museums, art galleries, botanic gardens, markets, and have repaired and restocked items of necessity. The last week has been the fist time we have been looking at the weather back home with envy. The heat just doesn't stop up here. It's like the thermostat has corroded shut, denying anyone without aircon a comfortable sleep. You sweat in the morning, in the arvo and in bed. We bought a big fan today! Emm reckons it's gonna be fan..tastic to sleep with! Tomorrow we will head into Kakadu for a couple of nights and then B-line out of the humidity. We all enjoyed having Emm's mum (Bhut) come up and stay with us for a while.

I see the beard has departed - got a little warm did we? Mudcrab dies and goes to heaven where he is greeted at the Pearly Gates by St. Peter who issues his halo, wings and harp and instructs him to look after them carefully. St Peter also informs Mudcrab that his friend Sandcrab is already in heaven and runs a night club down the road. Later that night Mudcrab is staggering up the road with his halo awry, his wings bedraggled and he meets St Peter. "I can see you've had a good night", says St Peter, "But where is your harp?". Mudcrab thinks for a while and then says tearfully -
